Is It Really Winter Wonderland?(Polar bears)

Did you know that only 22,000 – 31,000 polar bears remain?

Well, its true! These polar bears are estimated to be extinct in 2050 if humans keep up with greenhouse gas.

-Generating electricity and heat with fossil fuels, causes climate change. Only a quarter of electricity comes from renewable sources (Which does not cause climate change).

-Manufacturing and industry produce emissions use fossil fuels, causing climate change

-Industrial processes release gas, causing climate change

-When cutting down forests they release the carbon they have been holding, causing emissions, = Climate change

-Most cars, trucks, ships, run on fossil fuels, causing climate change

-When making food, farm equipment is needed, (most is powered by fossil fuels!) which causes climate change!

-Commercial buildings take up half the electricity! So, Climate change!

And that Climate change, causes polar bear habitat loss.

The Arctic is warming 3x as fast as average. Because of the loss of the ice, polar bears have loss of prey, seals. Causing some of them to not have a healthy diet.

We can try to not use a lot of electricity, but it is really hard. Electric cars can be expensive for a lot of people

However there are little things we can do.

  • Lower your heat and cooling
  • Use LED light bulbs
  • Use energy-efficient electric appliances
  • When your going to the park, ride a bike or walk, its good for you and preventing climate change
  • Eating less meat and dairy can result in less climate change, because producing plant-based foods does not use as much greenhouse gas emissions!
  • Try to lower the amount of flight travel
  • Throw away less food
  • Reduce, reuse, repair, and recycle!

What we do does have a huge impact on polar bears, although it is difficult to prevent, we still can do little things to help!

We have to support polar bear’s right to,

be considered, and helped out even by humans.

This post is published later than usual, so sadly I am only posting once this month, but I will continue to post twice in February.

I agree with everything you say, but don’t understand why you wrote that eating less meat and dairy is “just a little tip”. Isn’t it as important as reducing the use of cars?

I agree. The reason I wrote that it is “Just a little tip” is because I am a vegetarian and I don’t want to sound forcing of the idea of changing your diet like I did. I appreciate your comment. 🙂

I love how you really tackle climate change in this post. Polar bears are the face of a lot of climate activism, so it makes sense! I would also say that participating in “Veganuary” (although January is almost over) or if you are not already vegan, learning a few vegan recipes to use each week would greatly help reduce your personal emissions. If you like the recipe, you can always share with friends and family and encourage them to go vegan for a couple of meals per week also 🙂

I can’t wait for the next post.

humans are literally destroying our own planet, and killing all the other species here

I am angry for polar bears.
